Arando is a picturesque village located at the highest point in the Basha Valley and is inhabited throughout the year. Above it, there are nothing but lush pastures, imposing glaciers, and majestic mountains.
Living in such a remote location brings numerous challenges to the local residents, but they have been able to thrive for several centuries by utilizing their extensive knowledge of the mountains.
Despite the harsh conditions, they have learned how to make the most of what the alpine environment has to offer, moving effortlessly through the surrounding peaks.
This ancestral connection to the land and generations of experience make the local residents excellent guides for your outdoor adventures. Guiding and portering are deeply ingrained in the community's way of life.

Arando serves as one of the entrances to the Central Karakoram National Park, which boasts the title of the world's highest protected area. Its exceptional location offers breathtaking natural wonders that are unparalleled elsewhere.
One of its most notable features is the longest glacier outside the Arctic, and the surrounding regions are home to an array of wildlife including Himalayan Ibex, Lynx, Blue Sheep, Gray Wolf, Fox, Snow Leopard, Ladakh Urial, and Marco Polo sheep.
In addition to the diverse wildlife, the area is also a botanical treasure trove, harboring unique plant species that can't be found anywhere else.
Thanks to its proximity to the Indus River, the region is a natural migration path for a vast number of bird species, making it a birdwatcher's paradise.
